What is the Best Workplaces Managed by Women certification?
The Best Workplaces Managed by Women in Canada certification is a great honour reserved for women-owned organizations that earned a Great Place to Work certification the previous year.
The organizations that make this list are the ones that received the highest overall score on the trust index survey completed confidentially by employees.
This recognition resonates especially strongly at Roy. in today's context of gender equality and justice, here and elsewhere.

This certification reflects the commitment of our president and CEO, Julie Roy, to fostering an ever more inclusive and caring workplace where our 2,800 Roy employees feel valued, respected and recognized, regardless of their gender, age, background or sexual orientation.

Making her mark in the industry with kindness
When Julie took over the reins of the family business, she also became the first woman to hold the position of president and CEO at Roy. That was in 2013. Being a female entrepreneur in a mostly male-dominated world was one more challenge she overcame as part of an identified succession plan.
It was with a caring approach and great ambitions that Julie began her new role in 2013, with the desire to build a strong and distinctive employer brand. Her strategy? Invest in her people so they could deliver an optimal client experience.
Ten years later, Julie's big dream has evolved even further. Today, she dreams of having a positive impact on the lives of 10,000 people by 2035.
An empathetic and attentive entrepreneur
It's fair to say that the entrepreneurial spirit, empathy and kindness have run through the Roy family for three generations now. Among the women just as much as the men.
The empathy and attentiveness of the Roy women were highlighted by Chantal Hébert, the first woman to hold the position of Director of Operations at Roy.: "I was close to Denise, Julie's mother, early in my career at Roy. She supported me when I was going through personal challenges as a single mother. I see that same empathy and kindness in Julie today, in her approach to leadership."
